Coming Fall 2025
Get Ready for Gateway Seminary Northern Colorado, the Rocky Mountain Theology Conference, and the NIV Timeline Bible
I'm taking a break from writing here this summer to slow down and focus on other writing projects. But before I go, I wanted to share three things I'm really excited about for the fall.
Launching Gateway Seminary Northern Colorado
In August, Overland Church will become the Northern Colorado teaching site for Gateway Seminary. This year, we are offering six hours of classes—Christian Theology I and II—with plans to expand to 6–12 hours next year.
We even got a brief shoutout at the Southern Baptist Convention in the Gateway presentation.
We already have a group of bright students ready to start their seminary journey with us, but there's still time to join! If you know anyone in Northern Colorado or southeast Wyoming who might be interested, direct them to gatewaynoco.com or, even better, have them reach out to me directly.
The Rocky Mountain Theology Conference
I want to help spark theological hunger in our region by bringing in top-notch scholars annually to Fort Collins. This year, we're kicking off the Rocky Mountain Theology Conference, sponsored by Gateway Seminary, by focusing on my favorite theological discipline—Biblical Theology—and hosting one of my favorite biblical theologians, Dr. Mitch Chase of Southern Seminary.
We have about 180 seats available for the conference, so if you plan to be there on November 7–8, grab your early bird ticket for just $30. Prices go up after July 31! Register at rockymountaintheology.com
Preorder the NIV Timeline Bible
In December, Zondervan Bibles will release the NIV Timeline Bible. This study Bible continues the legacy of the late John Kohlenberger, who created many excellent Bible reference tools, including the abridged Expositor’s Bible Commentary.
In this new study Bible, we've continued Dr. Kohlenberger's chronological arrangement of the biblical text with a running timeline at the bottom of each page. I also added an additional reference tool: I've highlighted eleven genres throughout the biblical text to show how the Bible is both a work of history and literature. Plus, I wrote an introductory article on genre to help readers understand its importance in the biblical text.
It's already available for preorder on Amazon and Christian Books. Order one now so you'll be ready to read through the Bible in this unique way in 2026!
Come Say Hello!
I'd love to connect with online friends this fall! You can find me at the Colorado Baptist General Convention in Pagosa Springs in October, or at the Evangelical Theological Society in Boston in November. In the meantime, I'll be working on my first Old Testament paper for ETS, titled "Of Great Trees, Kingdoms, and Imposters: Reading the Abimelech Narrative of Judges 9 as Foil to the Abrahamic Promise in Genesis."
